RDLRDLEcosystem

Frequently asked

Your first questions

The most common questions about the RDL ecosystem, accounts, fees and content.

What is RDL?

RDL is a research ecosystem that unifies an academic social network (Network), open-data sharing (Hub) and a global thesis archive (Tez) under one account. The three products share the same account.

Do I need a separate account for each app?

No. One RDL account signs you in to Network, Hub and Tez; your profile data is synced across the apps.

Is it free?

Network and Tez are fully free. Hub is an open-data sharing platform: sharing data, browsing and claiming free datasets are all free. A small transaction fee only applies if a researcher optionally offers data for a fee.

Which countries is RDL open to?

RDL is a global platform open to researchers, institutions and students everywhere. The interface can be viewed in multiple languages, including English and Turkish.

Do I need an account to search theses?

No, searching and viewing theses are public. Uploading theses requires an institution or admin role.

Who owns my thesis or data once I publish?

You always retain copyright. The license you pick (CC-BY, CC-BY-NC, etc.) defines how others may use the content.

Are ORCID and DOI supported?

Yes. Network syncs your profile and publications via ORCID; Hub and Tez content can be persistently identified with a DOI and gather citations.

How do I start?

Whichever product you'll use, click 'Open the app' on its detail page, or follow the step-by-step starter guide in the Guides section.
